Netflix Documentary Revisits the Mysterious Deaths of the Carman Family
En overlevelse til søs, et dræbt familiemedlem og en føderal tiltale — nu fortalt i 'The Carman Family Deaths'
Netflix has added a new true crime documentary to its lineup: 'The Carman Family Deaths' retells the story of Nathan Carman from New England — a man who found himself at the center of two family members' tragic ends and later faced federal fraud charges. The case has everything from a brutal shooting death inside a wealthy Connecticut suburban home to a desperate rescue in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
A grandfather murdered in his own home
On December 20, 2013, John Chakalos was found shot dead inside his home in Windsor, Connecticut. Chakalos was a wealthy man, and his death sent shockwaves through the family. The Connecticut State Police opened an investigation, but according to publicly available sources, no one has ever been prosecuted and convicted for his murder.
His grandson, Nathan Carman, quickly came under scrutiny from authorities — not least because Chakalos' death had a direct bearing on a potential inheritance that Nathan Carman was allegedly set to receive. Exactly what happened on that December night in has never been definitively resolved by the courts.
